Unspoken Wings

Would that words had never been spoken,
I’d say that perhaps wings might allow me
to rise above you and finally free myself
from your clutch… your butterfly net
(and they call me unstable).
I’d say this had words never been spoken,
because only then would it not sound
contrived and terribly cliche.
As it is I’ve nothing to say to you that
has not been said a million times before
by those far more desperate than I.

Still, I wish for this wings every single
time your skin touches mine.
