Token Chick

That’s me.  The token chick.

I could kid around and say there simply wasn’t enough oestrogen here before and now I’m here to fix that.  But the truth is that I got to know William via the old Frozen Man and we got to writing back and forth discussing the craft of writing, life, love and everything in between.  Not having an old man of my own, he became a father figure in my life.  (Sorry to spring that one on you, William, but it’s true.)

So when he approached me about writing a blog for the site, I jumped all over the opportunity.  He told me that I’m free to write about pretty much anything I’d like, but I know that he’ll be there with a red pen whenever I send him entries.  So I may as well put my best efforts forward.

A little history/introduction is no doubt in order.  My name is Beth Lorne.  I am in my early thirties and work in a very dull office environment.  No serious man in my life, much less any children (or aspirations to have any in the near future).  I write on a daily basis and read a lot as well.  I study writing in my spare time, in the hopes of being more comfortable with the process.  I like sparring and dancing equally, and don’t find that strange in the least.  I have over two dozen journals and every single page contains some writing on it.  It may not always be good, but that’s ok because no one else will ever get to read these.

I believe in putting words on paper.  There’s something very real about writing a sentence.  There’s a sense of accomplishment and reality that you don’t get from typing something.  That’s not to say that I don’t type out my submissions or anything.  It just means that I like first writing things out longhand.  This is a much slower process, but it’s nonetheless a very important process (at least in my opinion).

I guess that’s enough for my first entry.  I don’t want to give away too much on the first date.  Need to save some things for the second date.

Why 'One World'?
We at The Frozen Man believe that to succeed in the creative arts, be it writing or art, one should have a profound knowledge of the world around them. Understand human nature and you will be able to create words which are true. We are one world, one people, one essence.
