Podcast Planning
You may have noticed a new button on the right. Yes, I am toying with the idea of starting a Podcast wherein I would perform some of the pieces published here on The Frozen Man.
I’ve always loved performing my work, though have not gotten much of a chance to do so as of late. There aren’t many venues for that where I currently live.
There’s something very moving about hearing your written words aloud. I always make certain to read my pieces out loud as I am rewriting them, as this helps ensure that the words flow nicely upon the tongue. That being said, to perform them for others is simple bliss.
I realize that I will not have that immediate reaction from listeners, such as you get in a small coffee shop, however there isn’t much I can do about that.
I’ve started checking where I could get the Podcasts hosted so that people can subscribe to them via an RSS feed. I love the idea of streaming poetry feeds that people can listen to whenever they want. I personally don’t own an iPod yet, though I can subscribe to RSS feeds via my PSP (PlayStation Portable).
I’ve started planning how I would do this, as well as which pieces would lend themselves nicely to this format. I’m also coming to grips with the idea of my voice reading the pieces. You see, when you perform poetry and want to do it well, you use facial expressions, body language, and anything else that will help get an emotion across.
I won’t have that at my disposal however. And so I will have to rely solely on my voice to carry what I am feeling. Now, if I had a beautiful, deep voice, I wouldn’t be concerned.
That’s not the case.
I will try to hide the French accent at the very least… but I can’t promise it won’t sneak out occasionally.
I don’t yet have a timeframe as to when you can expect the first Podcast. It will depend on how quickly I can set up all the hosting. The actual recording should not take too long, though the first one is liable to be a big one to start. Once it begins, I will try to put them out on a regular basis (most likely once a week, a feature that would include all of the pieces for the week… or any of the pieces worth reading, I should say).
Thanks for your support.
